Bad week for:
The River Tame, near Manchester, after it was found to have the highest concentration of microplastics of any body of water in the world. The previous record holder was a beach in South Korea. Jamie Carragher, the football pundit and former Liverpool player, who was suspended by Sky Sports after footage emerged of him spitting at a car carrying a 14-year-old girl. The child’s father had been taunting Carragher about a Liverpool loss as he drove alongside the former footballer’s car on the motorway, and recorded his reaction on his mobile phone. Carragher has since apologised for a “moment of madness”, while the police have spoken to the father about using his phone camera while driving. Caffè Nero, which was blasted by campaigners over its tax affairs. The coffee chain has not paid any corporation tax in ten years, despite racking up UK sales of about £2bn.
