Armed pitch invasion:
Thessaloniki, Greece
Greece’s sports minister has suspended all play in the country’s top football division, following an incident in which a football club owner invaded the pitch armed with a gun to protest against a disallowed 89th-minute goal and threaten the referee. Ivan Savvidis, the owner of PAOK, marched up to the referee, surrounded by bodyguards; he was seen putting his hand on his holster, but didn’t take the gun out. The disallowed goal would have given his team a 1-0 victory against AEK Athens, which is leading in the Superleague.
