Naomi Campbell (pictured) is a stickler for hygiene, especially when it comes to air travel. Whatever the plane, “private or commercial, people start coughing and sneezing”, says the supermodel. On every flight, she brings a surgical mask, disposable gloves and surgical wipes, and proceeds to clean the entire area around her seat. She also brings her own seat cover which she gets hand washed at her hotel. “I don’t care what people think of me,“she says. “It’s my health and it makes me feel better.”

In the twilight of his career, Marlon Brando couldn’t always be relied on to learn a script. So when filming The Island of Dr. Moreau in Australia, Brando wore a radio earpiece to pick up any needed prompts. This, according to his co-star David Thewlis, explains why he dumbfounded cast members on one occasion by blurting out the line: “There’s been a robbery at Woolworths!” It seems the earpiece sometimes crossed frequencies with the local police scanner.

Canadian singer Grimes, the girlfriend of Elon Musk, has a very singular fitness regime.

It involves spending two to four hours a day in a sensory deprivation tank: this enables her to “astro-glide to other dimensions – past, present and future”. She does up to two hours sword fighting as well, and has turned her studio into an “infrared sauna” for screaming sessions, accompanied by honey tea. She has also undergone experimental eye surgery to remove all blue light from her vision. “Grimes is the perfect embodiment of the Adidas by Stella McCartney core values,” says Stella McCartney, whose new collection for Adidas Grimes is currently promoting.
