From Botox and fillers to double chin lifts, we reveal the treatments men are requesting now and the procedures they’re planning

It’s often said that men look better with age, but the appetite for cosmetic surgery is showing that gents aren’t averse to giving nature a helping hand.

Rhinoplasty, male breast reduction and liposuction are the three most popular procedures chosen by UK men over the past two years, according to research by Transform Hospital Group. Plus, there has been a rise in demand for tummy tucks and ear surgery.

Those in Manchester are most likely to sign up, with 55% of Mancunian men revealing they’ve had a procedure or are planning one, while men in London (46%) and Leeds (38%) are the next biggest fans of a nip and tuck.

“It’s not surprising that we’re seeing these high numbers of men expressing interest in cosmetic surgery,”says Ben Khoda, a plastic surgeon at Transform. “Procedures as a whole are moving towards less invasive, minor tweaks designed to enhance what we already have. This is attractive to men with busy lives who are invested in how they look.”

Alterations to the hair or hairline, nose, or stomach are top of the agenda among those who are thinking about going under the knife, says the research.

“The newest kid on the block that will be incredibly popular this year and beyond is Belkyra, which helps double chins accumulated over lockdown,” adds Dr Ross Perry, cosmetic doctor and medical director of Cosmedics. “This procedure will melt away the excess fat in the chin area to give a more chiselled jawline.”

Furthermore, Dr Perry has seen a pandemic-related rise in demand for Botox and fillers targeting frown lines and smile lines to soften ‘ Zoom gloom’.

Eyelid surgery is also on the up: “This is now just a small day procedure carried out under local anaesthetic in about an hour to uplift the sagging skin,” explains Dr Perry. “It’s good to have when working from home as you can take the time to rest up for a week afterwards without anyone knowing.” transforminglives.co.uk cosmedics.co.uk
