Greensleeves is the new tune for actors’ care home
A CARE home in Wokingham which was put up for sale in March has a new owner.
Glebelands Care Home, in Woolf Drive, has been acquired by Greensleeves care, an award-winning charity which already looks after 20 care homes across England.
Glebelands was run by the Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund (CTBF) as a place where workers from the world of film and screen could retire with their peers.
The sale came about as the charity looks to change its long-term strategy involves a refocusing of its efforts to better support its members to meet their changing needs and lifestyles.
During the sale, members of the CTBF spent a lot of time meeting different care providers before deciding that Greensleeves Care, was the best organisation to continue the excellent care and take the home forward.
Greensleeves Care has been providing high quality care for older people for 20 years. As a charitable trust, it is not-for-profit, so any financial surplus is reinvested back into its operations, helping them to continuously improve the homes and deliver outstanding care and services to residents.
Paul Newman, Chief Executive of Greensleeves Care, said: “We are really looking forward to the residents and staff of Glebelands joining Greensleeves Care and extending our sector-leading support services to them.
“We have much in common and share fundamental values about our approach to care. Care is at the heart of everything we do. Like us, they are focused on making a positive difference to the lives of residents and we will work closely with them to ensure the handover is as smooth as possible.”
D’Arcy Myers, Interim CEO of The CTBF, said:“I’m really pleased we have been able to conclude the sale of Glebelands to Greensleeves Care as I believe they will build on its track record as a fantastic care home that provides a very personal and warm service to its residents.
“Glebelands has played a hugely important part in the services we have provided as a charity over the years and I’m very glad that it will remain an option for all of our beneficiaries in the future.
“Our plan is to concentrate on better meeting the changing needs of people working behind the scenes in Cinema, TV and Film, who find themselves in times of need for one reason or another.”
