Yes, this is a church service…
STAR WARS Stormtroopers invaded a Finchampstead church on Sunday as part of a Father’s Day service with a difference.
Finchampstead Baptist Church, which meets at the FBC Centre in
Gorse Ride North, held its annual Man Sunday evening offering a host of fun activities and free ice cream.
Members of the 7 Rifles were on hand to explain more about what they do, while classic cars and motorbikes were placed on display outside the church buildings.
Inside there were archery contests, a bouncy castle, a bucking bronco, a golf simulator, and craft activities to try.
And if that wasn’t enough, there was live music, an obstacle course for toddlers and the opportunity to tackle a chess master, in the form of church member Paul Valler.
Jason Brown, from Crowthorne Service Centre, brought along a Nissan GTR, which can go at up to 200mph.
“I’m a bit of a car nut,” he said. “We’re just back from Germany where we’ve been on the track.”
The church has two more special events planned. On Friday, July 14, golfers of all abilities are invited to take part in The FBC Open at Downshire Park Golf Course. Entry costs £40 for a nine-hole pitch and putt contest, an 18-hole competition, hot drinks, bacon rolls and an early evening meal.
And on Saturday, July 22 from 8pm, women are invited to a pudding night.
