THE Wokingham Bikeathon is an opportunity to get on your bike and explore some of the best of Berkshire’s countryside.

There are two route options to enjoy: 15 miles and 35.

They both start and finished from Cantley Park off Twyford Road.

The route has changed a little this year because of the regeneration of Wokingham Town Centre.

Online entries close at midnight tonight (Thursday), but it is possible to register and enter on the day.

Riders under the age of 12 are free, between 12 and 17 is £15 and over 18s pay £20.

Registration is open from 8.45am to 10.30am, with start times running until 10.45am. Families should arrive from 9.15am to enable faster racers to get on their bikes.

All riders need to wear a helmet in order to take part.

Along the way, there will be drinks stops run by the 1st Embrook Scout Group and ARC Counselling: organisers want to thank Haines Hill Estate and Sophie Allison Livery Yard who have lent their land for the drink stops.

And there will be plenty to do in Cantley Park itself. The Town Mayor, Cllr Peter Lucey, will open the fun.

As usual, Wokingham Bikeathon is a celebration of biking and there will be experts on hand to look over your bike, show off some tricks or help you make smoothies.

Stalls include: My Journey Wokingham, Limbcare, Dr Bike, Mountain Trax, Beyond First Aid, Sprikets Cycling Club, Safer Roads, Urban Limits, Velodrome Challenge and a barbecue from the Girl Guides.

The Bikeathon’s main sponsor is Rodger Duckworth Physiotherapy Practice.
