Wokingham PROBUS Club

-

RAY EDWARDS MBE was guest speaker at Wokingham PROBUS Club at John Nike Centre, Bracknell, on Wednesday, June 7.

Ray who is Britain’s longest surviving quadruple amputee founded the charity Limbcare to provide support to other amputees. He also provides stimulating morale building talks under the heading Ray Inspires. Inspire is what he really does. You may ask how can a man experience cancer, blood poisoning, losing all four limbs on one day, a heart attack and kidney failure and still survive and climb mountains?

He can and he did, and his name is Ray Edwards.

All this was revealed in a poignant, personal and thought provoking presentation. A collection was held at the end of Ray’s talk for Limbcare.

PROBUS is a meeting place for retired or semi-retired professional and business people who assemble monthly in an informal and friendly atmosphere for social chat, a pleasant lunch and a talk on a general interest topic.

The programme for the coming months includes the experiences of a real life Yeoman of the Guard (July) and a presentation on their Driverless Cars Project by two representatives from

TRL (August).

New members will be most welcome. Fees are modest, lunches good value and the company friendly with a wide range of experiences and interests from their varied working lives.

Wokingham PROBUS Meetings are on the first Wednesday of the month at 12.30pm for 1pm lunch, with a talk usually following.

The meeting place is

John Nike Leisuresport,
