Fosu quits Mad Stad to head to the Valley

-

TARIQE FOSU has opted to leave Reading and join Charlton Athletic.

The highly-rated winger was offered a new contract by the Royals this summer but has now joined League One outfit Charlton for an undisclosed fee.

Academy product Fosu, 21, burst into the limelight with a string of impressive displays in the 2015/16 pre-season having been handed his first team debut by Steve Clarke on the final day of the previous campaign.

But that proved to be the forward’s only taste of senior action having spent the last two years out on loan at Fleetwood Town, Accrington Stanley and Colchester United.

“As soon as it came about I thought it was a massive opportunity for me,” said Fosu.

“It’s a big club and I’m ready to get started.

“Thank you to Reading FC for making my time there so special.” Addicks boss Karl Robinson added: “He’s one that excites fans. His feet are phenomenal and hopefully we’ll be seeing flashes of that next season.”
