Reed is fantastic for Finchampstead 3s

-

RICHARD REED hit 61 runs as Finchampstead 3s bounced back from their first defeat of the campaign to see off Aldershot 3s in 6b.

Finches were beaten by leaders Sonning 2s last time out, but they showed their class with a big win on Saturday.

Opener Reed top scored with 61 while Chris Ward (25), Gary Woodford (29), Simon Eldridge

(29) and Chris Wroot (33) all got themselves in as Finch closed on 218-7.

And the hosts were in fine form with the ball as Steve West (4-13) and Ahmet Tuney (4-39) led the way to dismiss Aldershot for 108.

HURST 2s slipped down to eighth after losing by eight wickets against Yateley 3s.

Kyle Bradley (29) and Ian Harvey (25) were the top scorers as Hurst were bowled out for 148, a target comfortably chased down.

SONNING 2s stay top after easing past Royal Ascot 3s by eight wickets.

Bill Burnett’s half century 51 proved crucial as EVERSLEY 3s beat Bracknell 2s by 11 runs in 7a.

Eversley, who climb up to fifth with this win, batted first and set a total of 203-5 as Burnett’s 51 was supported by good knocks from

Paul Ager (30) and Alex Sharp (45no).

And the Boars clinched the win in nail-biting fashion with Sharp (324) and Jamie Tidbury (4-50) leading the bowling.

WOKINGHAM 4s slipped into the relegation zone after a seven-wicket defeat against North Maidenhead

3s.

Warren Williams (30) and

Glyn Clements (35) were the only batsmen to offer any real resistance for the Oaks as they were skittled out for 106, a total which was never likely to be enough for victory.

FINCHAMPSTEAD 5s stay ninth in 8a after a 10-wicket thrashing at the hands of Kew 4s.

Dave Marles (35) and Paul Douglas (40) top scored as

Finches were bowled out for 146 and the hosts could not make a breakthrough with the ball as Kew reached the target without dropping a wicket.

Wazir Khan hit 83 not out to guide SONNING 3s to victory over Reading 4s.

Reading batted first, closing on 193-7 with Gary Phillips (3-30) the pick of the bowlers.

But Sonning performed well with the bat as both Khan and Nick Ray (69) posted half centuries and Tim Murphy (20no) helped see the win home.

Down in 9a, EVERSLEY 4s forfeited their clash with WOKINGHAM 5s while WARGRAVE 3s beat Thatcham Town 4s by three wickets down in no small part to Stephen Jeffrey’s score of 111 and a 47 from James Moss.
