Draw Binfield gives top spot

-

BINFIELD moved top of the Chilterns League after a dominant draw against Braywood.

While they failed to win for just the second time this season, the 16 points earned from the trip were enough to move top of the pile with former leaders Wraysbury not in action.

In-form Binfield batted first and saw out all 52 overs with Tim Vines top scoring on 59.

While Vines was the only man to make a half century, notable contributions also came from Chris Morgan (49) and Mickey Reid (48no) on the way to a total of 275-8.

All eyes then turned to the bowlers and they came mighty close to dismissing the bottom half side.

Tom Andrews led the charge with figures of 4-64 while Mike Staves also took three wickets, but Braywood held on to a draw, closing on 195-9.

Binfield travel to face White Waltham on Saturday.

Ian Goddard took six wickets as BINFIELD 2s eased past Coleshill in Division 2.

It was a thoroughly dominant display from start to finish for the hosts as they batted first, declaring on 271-9 with Matthew Nicholls (64), Thomas Nower (43) and Steve Jeffery (29) top scoring.

While Binfield batted well through the order, the same could not be said of Coleshill as only two men reached double figures on their way to being skittled out for just 63.

Goddard’s figures of 6-25 were the stand-out display while Paul Edgington added three more wickets.
