Be snap happy for contest
THE PERSONALITIES and places of Wokingham are set to be in the frame thanks to this year’s photographic contest.
Organised by Love Wokingham, sponsored by .morearts and the Wokingham Camera Club and supported by The Wokingham Paper, the annual contest asks the borough’s photographers to get snapping.
And the judges are not looking for prints taken on the latest fancy kit costing thousands: they want to encourage everyone to take part, even if the pictures are taken on a mobile phone or a point and shoot digital camera.
There are two age categories: under 18 and over 18, with £100 for the best in each class, £50 for second place and £25 for third place.
Cllr Gwynneth Hewetson, Wokingham Town Council Chairman of the Arts & Culture Committee, urged people to join in the free-to-enter contest.
She said: “It hasn’t been easy visiting Wokingham in recent months, what with the regeneration work that is being undertaken. We know that soon it will once again be a great place to visit, but in the meantime this year’s Wokingham Photographic Competition is the ideal opportunity to remind ourselves what an interesting and special place Wokingham is.
“Whether you’re new to photography or an experienced pro; whether you’re young or old, we’d love you to submit an entry to the competition. You may be one of the successful winners.
“Good luck!”
Up to five images can be entered in each email. They should be no more than 5MB per picture, with the image quality of 300dpi so that they can be printed to at least A4 size. The maximum email size is 20MB.
The winning entries will be displayed by Wokingham Town Council and printed in The Wokingham Paper. The closing date for entries is Friday, June 8, 2018.
