Rams winning streak continues

Wimbledon 13 Redingensians Rams 24

-

REDINGENSIANS’ winning run keeps rolling on.

The Rams made heavy work of rock-bottom Wimbledon, but did come through to win 24-13 and record a fifth straight win to climb up to stay fourth in the table.

Wimbledon came into the game winless from their opening nine fixtures and they quickly fell behind again as Jordan Souter crossed the whitewash for the Rams.

Olly Poole quickly added a second and with Souter accurate with the boot, the visitors led 14-0 inside 10 minutes.

Wimbledon pulled one back, but Redingensians would not let up, going 19-5 ahead when captain Robbie Stapley crashed over.

Rams continued to dominate, but the hosts showed some defensive resilience and hauled themselves back into the contest at 19-13 by half-time.

The second period proved to be a real scrap as Wimbledon pushed hard for an unlikely win.

Mistakes were being made on both sides in the nervy encounter, but Redingensians finally found a way through again with Ben Henderson profiting from a powerful pack to seal the victory.

Seb Reynolds’ men will look to make it six wins on the spin when they host Redruth on Saturday

(2pm).

CROWTHORNE return to action this Saturday, hosting Hungerford.

The Crows have made a nightmare start to life in Berks, Bucks and Oxon Premier, sitting bottom of the table on minus eight points.
