Berkshire get one over Sonning in derby

SAM FOX-HARVEY scored twice as South Berkshire won their local derby with Sonning 3-1.

Fox-Harvey’s brace combined with a goal from Daniel Ray cancelled out MBBO Regional 2 top scorer James Manser’s strike to lift Berks up to third.

Sonning remain in mid-table despite the defeat and go to Banbury on Saturday.

SONNING 2s sit eighth in Division 1 after a 2-1 loss at Bicester while in Division 2, SOUTH BERKSHIRE 2s were well beaten, going down 4-1 at home to Maidenhead 2s despite a goal from Jack Baveystock.

It was a difficult day right across the board for both Sonning and South Berkshire.

Both side’s third teams lost 4-0 in Division 3, while the 4s were also score-less in their respective Division 5 clashes.

SOUTH BERKSHIRE TERRIERS won 3-0 at SONNING 5s in 8 West and SONNING 6s were thrashed 7-1 at BA Club 3s in Division 9.

On the women’s side, SONNING LADIES continue to enjoy a mixed start to life in South Club’s Division 3A, drawing 2-2 at struggling West Hampstead.

Sophie Greenaway’s goal came in vain as SONNING LADIES 2s were beaten 2-1 at Oxford Ladies 3s in Trysports Premier 1.

SOUTH BERKSHIRE LADIES 1s slip to fourth in that league after a 1-1 draw with Amersham and Chalfont Ladies, for whom Jess Reus netted.

Berks 2s lost 3-1 at Thame in Premier 2 while SONNING 3s are up to second in Division 1 after a 4-2 win over Milton Keynes 2s.

In Division 3, SOUTH BERKSHIRE 3s drew 2-2 with Maidenhead 4s, while SONNING 4s eased past Oxford Hawks 6s 4-0 to stay atop Division 4.

Lower down the leagues, Sofia Reina and Claire Owen scored for SOUTH BERKSHIRE 4s in their

4-0 win at Wycombe 4s while SONNING VETERANS lost 3-1 at home to South Bucks.

SONNING LADIES 5s lost 3-0 at home to Buckingham 4s.
