Sniper Sam frustrated again
SAM SMITH has expressed his frustration after he saw a third straight fight cancelled at the 11th hour.
Former Pinewood boxer ‘Sniper’, who boasts an unbeaten 4-0 record, was set for the biggest night of his career on Friday, topping the bill at London’s York Hall against Kirk Garvey (10-1) in a Southern Area title eliminator.
But Garvey pulled out on Tuesday morning with an arm injury, leaving Smith disappointed again.
“It’s been a frustrating year,” the 24-yearold told The Wokingham Paper.
“I haven’t boxed since April.
“I’ve had a few niggly injuries and I had to pull out of the last one because I got cut on the nose.
“I was in great shape for this fight. It was massive, first time topping the bill, especially at York Hall.”
He added: “I think now we’re looking to get the fight rescheduled for February and I think it’s going to be for the actual title instead of the eliminator.
“So it’s all eyes on February.
“I’m just going to keep concentrating and stay active, because you can easily let yourself go and take you’re eye off the ball.”
Smith is trained by renowned coach Paddy Fitzpatrick.
