Youngsters get handy to showcase their artworks at exhibition

-

A NEW art exhibition created by youngsters exploring issues related to mental health will go on show on Saturday in Bracknell.

Inside Out is a collection of thought-provoking and often humorous art, using photographs, paintings, sculptures and even body art to express their thoughts about the pressures their generation is under.

Youngsters created these projects during a series of mental health workshops run by local schools charity Soulscape.

“We do research with young people, asking them what effect pressure from school, family and peers has on their mental health,” says Soulscape director Jane Turner. “In the first workshop they consider questions like, what makes me feel anxious or stressed, what’s the difference between appearance and reality on social media, what do I do when I’m unhappy?

“If you know and love a young person, come to their exhibition, see the impressive art they’ve produced and hear what they’re saying about their lives.”

The Inside Out exhibition takes place from 2pm to 4.30pm at Garth Hill College, Bull Lane, Bracknell RG42 2AD. Entry is free. For more details, visit www.soulscape.org.uk.
