BULMERSHE kicked off the competition season with a host of medals.

Held at Pinewood Gymnastics Centre in Wokingham, Aimee Lovell and Sophie Marsden won gold and silver in the Berkshire County Grades Competition.

Their younger team-mates also dominated in the club grad six competition with Evgeniya Nikishina taking gold, just ahead of Tienna Oakman-Charles and India Nicholls.

Focus then turned to the “Witch of West” event in Wiltshire where Lauren Saunders secured bronze in the 11-12 year-old category.

Mollie Haswell and Mariah Licorish tumbled to success with gold and silver.

There was a clean sweep of silverware in the 7-9 year-old group with Oakman-Charles, Mia Stevenson and India Nicholls all on the podium.

The girls are now working towards the regional finals in Southampton later this month.

The boys were also in action in their first competition of the year.

Taking place in Abingdon, Liam Sandler won U10 all around bronze while team-mate Joshua Thornton collected gold for his vault and Matthew Mann took silver on rings and parallel bars.

“I am really pleased to see the younger boys start to compete and get their confidence up,” said Bulmershe head of operations Trina Farrance.

“After the senior boys ended last season on a high with Musa Siddiqi and Finlay Morgan getting gold as part of the Team South in the national finals, our younger boys have no shortage of role models.”
