Over to You Your letters EMILY We love to see what you’ve been stitching and hear your news, so send in your photos, letters and tips today! SUE HANNAH TINA Star Letter X MARKS THE SPOT H ere’s a photo of my latest completed cross stitch project. We have great fun attending a ‘Piratemania’ geocaching camping event each summer, walking footpaths whilst dressed as pirates and searching for ‘treasure’! As soon as I saw Jenny Barton’s super pirate ‘Treasure Map’ design in issue 278 (March 2019) I ordered the materials right away. It was a very enjoyable project with the vintage cream aida to work on and many individual motifs in the picture, which gave great satisfaction as each was completed. Mounting the finished piece on canvas would not have been much use for camping, so I decided to sew a cushion and had the good luck to find two off cuts of a palm tree motif fabric in my local needlecraft shop. This is the first time I’ve sewn a zip into a project and it worked a treat. I just love the finished result and look forward to more comfort at this summer’s camp. Thank you for your great magazine. Birthday surprise H ello The World Of Cross Stitching A belated happy birthday to you, Tracey! We’re glad Herbert got to celebrate with you on your special day. Emily: Team! Let me tell you, this exclusive gift in the January issue (289) of Herbert the Hedgehog was such a fun, cutsie stitch to create! I was excited to receive my issue on my actual birthday as well. No doubt, I picked up my needle and started stitching right away. I added a little appliqué – the word ‘ WISH’ – in the extra space provided above Herbert Hedgehog. This was soooo adorably cute, I couldn’t not share my birthday card. Happy Stitching! WOXS Rachel Hunt, Peasmarsh, East Sussex I love the palm tree fabric – what a perfect match! Good luck at next year’s Piratemania, it sounds like a blast. Hannah: Tracey McRobbie, Canada Birthday surprise Tracey added a little bit extra to make this card her own Win! Our Star Letter writer wins these two designs by Kay Widdowson from Goldleaf Needlework – ‘Floral Peacock’ and ‘Perfect Love’ (both on 14-count aida). Worth £48!
