Did you know?
Handel’s Water Music was first played on George I’s barge in the Thames in 1717. Apparently the King enjoyed it so much that he ordered the 50 tired musicians to play the suites three times.
The Thames has been the inspiration for artists including French Impressionist Claude Monet (1840-1926) who obviously couldn’t get enough of the river as he painted it three times. His most famous work of art was “The Thames Below Westminster”.
