DISH OF THE DAY

-

Drizzled in vinegar and wrapped up in paper, fish and chips has long been the nation’s favourite supper. The dish even has its own day – this year Friday 5 June (fingers crossed) – and 2019 saw many of our 10,500 UK chippies using it to raise funds for The Fisherman’s Mission, a charity providing welfare and emergency services to fisherman and their families.

Fishing continues to be our most dangerous peacetime occupation, with 15 fishermen killed or seriously injured every year on average, and crews have faced a very tough time with the coronavirus crisis too. So whether you prefer your fish with mushy peas or curry sauce, as soon as our fish and chip shops open again we must all get down there.
