Gardener’s Notes

- By Juliet Roberts

In England we are fortunate to have a particularly high number of exceptionally good gardens and summer is often the best time to see them – we’re hoping they will be open again soon. Visiting gardens is an excellent way of finding inspiration, so take note of plants or design ideas that catch your eye. Many gardens sell plants, too, so be sure to make space in your car for some treats to take home.

“Let no-one think that real gardening is a bucolic and meditative occupation. It is an insatiable passion, like everything else to which a man gives his heart.”

Karel Čapek, writer and critic (1890-1938)
