But did you know that striking higher in the face actually encourages this? It’s down to something called vertical gear effect, which influences both launch and spin. I’ll show you how here, along with a drill to help you move impact higher in the face. If you want an instant distance boost without even having to change technique, give it a try. But note that for maximum distance, impact still has to be off the springy part of the clubface.
