In light of Muirfield’s members voting in favour of female members, the R&A announced the club is back on the Open rota. But do they deserve to be reinstated so quickly? Rob Williams Not till they prove themselves to be a modern golf community where all members are encouraged and treated equally.

Nick Plummer It IS the right decision, but cynics may argue that it’s for the wrong reasons...

Paul Higham No. There are many great courses that can host. Muirfield shouldn’t get rewarded for a blatant financial decision.

Alan Bonner No. It’s funny that after the R&A dropped them, they called for another vote. The club needs kicking into the 21st century.

Neil Cook Golf has to get away from snooty old-boy clubs like these. Royal Dornoch, Trump International and some of older English and Irish links courses should be added to the rota.
