WE SAY: It’s a complete misconception the lower-spinning LS Tec is only for pros and better players. TG Editor Chris, who plays off 11, was told by Ping’s fitter he’s got the same ball speed as Hunter Mahan, but twice as much spin. So in a bid to lower it and maximise distance he was fitted into the LS Tec. Simon typically hits a driver too high, and the LS Tec helped lower his peak height by about 12 feet and meant this was his longest G driver.

VERDICT: We were really impressed – again – with all three G drivers. There’s something within the range for every golfer. Do yourself a favour and make sure you get properly fitted to ensure your set-up maximises your ultimate distance potential.
