You can call me Algarve

A perennial favourite with British golfers never fails to delight... especially when you see the value on offer from Your Golf Travel

-

As the most popular destination for British golfers over the 50 years, it’s a fair bet that most of us have been to the Algarve at least once. It’s never been more popular, in fact, it might feel as if you know everything there is to know about it.

And that is where, with the greatest respect, you’d be totally wrong. Yes, the courses and towns of the Algarve are well-known to British golfers, but even those of us who travel there regularly discover something new every time we go back. Take a golf holiday to the Algarve in 2017 or 2018, and it will be different from the last one. If it isn’t, it will be your fault, because after you liked it so much the previous time you booked the same hotel and courses again! The constant themes on the Algarve are wholly positive ones: the fabulous climate that makes it a year-round golf destination; the warm welcome you’ll receive no matter if you stay in a five-star hotel or a three-star guesthouse; the flawless conditioning of whatever course you play; the convenience of flying to Faro (from all corners of Britain) and then motorway to your hotel.

There are Top 100 golf courses such as Onyria Palmares in the west right through to Monte Rei in the east as well as San Lorenzo, Dom Pedro Old Course and Oceanico Faldo Course in between. There are heavenly play-and-stays wherever you look, led by familyfriendly Pine Cliffs and lower-profile but high-appeal Quinta da Ria. The Dona Filipasan Lorenzo axis, the former a majestic newly-refurbished hotel, the latter arguably the Algarve’s finest course, offers an alluring package. And then there is Penina, where it all began with Henry Cotton’s design starting the Algarve golf revolution, an area that still sets the standard as far as golf breaks are concerned.

Over the page we have highlighted three great deals that we especially rate, but in truth you have the widest possible range to choose from, whatever your budget or taste.
