For shorter shots, you don’t need much wrist hinge. Personally, I like to take the club back quite neutral. A good way to check you’re swinging on the correct plane is to hold the pose once the club reaches the point where the shaft is parallel to the ground. If you then rotate your body 90° to your right and lower the clubhead to the ground, the face should sit in exactly the same spot as it did at address. If it doesn’t, it’s likely you’re shutting the face by pulling the club too much on the inside, or fanning it open by getting too handsy.
