For shorter shots, you don’t need much wrist hinge. Per­son­ally, I like to take the club back quite neu­tral. A good way to check you’re swing­ing on the cor­rect plane is to hold the pose once the club reaches the point where the shaft is par­al­lel to the ground. If you then ro­tate your body 90° to your right and lower the club­head to the ground, the face should sit in ex­actly the same spot as it did at ad­dress. If it doesn’t, it’s likely you’re shut­ting the face by pulling the club too much on the in­side, or fan­ning it open by get­ting too handsy.
