‘I felt like I was wearing a pair of slippers on the golf course’

Do Skechers golf shoes really deliver out of the box comfort?

- WORDS MICHAEL CATLING PICTURES HOWARD BOYLAN

They may have overtaken adidas as the second biggest footwear brand in America, but it’s easy to forget that Skechers are still relative newcomers to the golf market. The casual footwear brand only debuted its Go Golf shoe collection in 2014, but that didn’t stop Colin Montgomerie from buying his own pair soon after. Now, he’s a brand ambassador alongside Matt Kuchar, Russell Knox, and Brooke Henderson. The Go Golf range has more than doubled in size for 2017, with seven new styles and more headturning colours than a Coldplay concert. As ever, Skechers promises ‘out of the box comfort’ with every pair, but is this really the case? To find out, we invited four readers to try out two different designs over 18 holes at The Shire.
