Garsen says the Max positions the palms facing each other, which puts the wrists in a more neutral position. That means your elbows turn more into your body, relieving tension, taking the hands out of the putting stroke and improving consistency. They’ve obviously done their research.
Golf Pride Tour SNSR Contour £21.95 I www.adoregolfgrips.com Our verdict: Golf Pride says over 75% of tour pros prefer a tapered pistol profile putter grip instead of modern parallel grips. The Contour comes in two sizes (mid 104cc and jumbo 140cc). There’s also a straight, flat sided SNSR which is available in two sizes. Golf Pride reckons the soft-tuned rubber gives extraordinary feel and feedback. Both grips get the thumbs up from us.
Lamkin Sink from £14.95 I www.adoregolfgrips.com Our verdict: Lamkin club grips have a firm following on tour, but their putter grips aren’t quite so well recognised. The lightweight rubber Sink is their latest innovation and we like how you get a choice ofa rounder or squarer profile and either an 11in or 13in length. Meaning it works for all sorts of claw and split handed ways of holding the putter.
Proputt Ergo £18.95 I www.proputt.co.uk Our verdict: Pro Putt reckon the Ergo is 10% lighter than the competition, which means by installing one it has less effect on the overall balance of the putter, which can be an issue with some oversized models. Expect a super tacky feel and responsive feedback. Even though the grips are a bit more expensive, we love the idea – especially if you invest in a weight kit, too. It means you can tinker with the feel to your heart's content. The Flatso’s pentagonal shape creates a ridge along the back of the grip which sits beautifully in the creases of your fingers. The arching top half fits beautifully into the hands (just like a traditional grip) and we love the sharp edges where the flat front meets the sides of the grip. Two Thumb Snug Daddy from £29.99 I www.twothumbgrip.com Our verdict: Two Thumb started out a good few years ago and between themselves and Superstroke they can legitimately claim to stoking the fire of oversized putter grips. The Snug Daddy has changed drastically from the original and for us it’s a brilliant middle of the road option, as it doesn’t go to the extreme size or shape of some. Three sizes: 27in, 30in, 33in.

The Tour Pistol is an excellent traditional sized grip with a pistol shape and well defined edges which give a clean feel. Perfect for golfers who prefer a traditional sized putter grip.
