LAMBORGHINI

-

IT STARTED OFF SO WELL. IT FINISHED SPECTACULARLY WHO: JACK RIX, DEPUTY EDITOR

We were in Italy to have a go in Lamborghini’s recently restored! utterly pristine LM""#! but didn’t have a location sorted$ “Well! there’s an abandoned mine down the road we have exclusive access to! if you fancy that?” said the Lambo PR$ Er! yep! that’ll do$ Cut to a day largely spent drifting three tonnes of V%# SUV around in ankle&deep mud and puddles$ Problem was! the wiper broke! so the windscreen quickly became caked! forcing me to trundle back to the rest of team with my head out the window$$$ and straight into a shin&high concrete block! bending the front bull bar$ Thank you! Lambo! for not castrating me there and then$

SLIDING SCALE WHO: ELLIOTT WEBB, ART EDITOR

Driving/sliding my first Lambo around an ice lake in Sweden made me feel like a hero$ The speedo said %""mph/ but the lack of traction on ice equated to an actual speed closer to *)mph$ Hero to zero$

ACCESSORISE YOUR LIFE WHO: OLLIE KEW, SNR RD TEST ED

I seem to remember that when we shot the Aventador SV against the McLaren '()LT and Porsche GT* RS in Cumbria! Ollie Marriage found the Lambo so agonising over distance he resorted to accessorising its carbon seat with a sofa cushion$ It responded by getting a flat tyre in the middle of nowhere! forcing Jack into a %""&mile drive to Manchester hoping the sealant gunk would hold out$ It’s a Hardknott life$

THE MOST EXPENSIVE SNOW PLOUGH IN THE WORLD WHO: TOM FORD, ASSOCIATE EDITOR

A Gallardo Trofeo on semi&slick Cup tyres! a shoot in the Italian mountains! three feet of unexpected snow$ Possibly the most underprepared I’ve ever been in my career + both in terms of clothing and car + the ensuing roadtrip ended in snowploughing the wildly oversteering Gallardo through the factory gates with every orifice blocked with snow$ The car! not me$ The applause I got from the press department for not crashing was worth the white knuckles$ I think$

SOMETIMES THE FIRST TIME ISN’T THE MOST MEMORABLE WHO: STEPHEN DOBIE, DEPUTY EDITOR TG.COM

My first go in a Lambo was the then&new Huracán! driven back to back with a ,manual!- Audi R. V%" Plus$ Sadly! the Audi felt way more fun and after spending too much of my childhood ogling pictures of Diablos! I felt lightly betrayed$ Happily I’ve since driven the marvellous Performante and faith has been restored$ Phew!
