CARS WITH CARBON FIBRE WHEELS
01 Koenigsegg AgeraRS
A set of ‘Aircore’ hollow carbon wheels save a massive 20kg in unsprung mass. No wonder the Agera needs such a massive wing to keep it on the deck, eh? Christian von Koenigsegg proudly points out the only metalcomponent in the entire wheelis the tyre valve. What about that lug nut?

Ford Mustang Shelby GT500
While the GT350R’s wheels were painted, these versions are naked, lacquered carbon. What’s more, robots are able to build the wheels in an automated process which helps drop the overallcost. These ones are thrown in with the $18,500 Carbon Fibre Track Pack. Bargain...

Porsche 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series
This is nerd-levelPorsche-speccing, folks. First, you had to buy one of the ‘Exclusive Series’ limited editions complete with carbon panels and a tickle more power. Only then were you afforded the option of 20 per cent stiffer and 20 per cent lighter (8kg) braided carbon wheels.
02 Ferrari 488 Pista
The first Ferrariroad car to be offered with optionalcarbon fibre wheels was... the 488 Pista, costing £14,000. They were so popular some Pista builds were apparently delayed as the woven wheels couldn’t be manufactured quickly enough. First world problems, eh?

Renault Megane Trophy R
A Renault Megane with carbon wheels. Bonkers. Apparently only two Trophy Rs specced with the complete Nürburgring Record pack made it to the hot hatch mad UK, each costing £72,140. Minus the pricey ceramic brakes, the Carbon Wheelvariant, saving 2kg per corner, came in at a cool£63,140.
08 BMW M4 GTS
Unlike everything you’ve seen so far, these aren’t pure carbon-weave rims. For £11,300, what you actually get is a carbon wheelrim surrounding aluminium spokes. BMW reckons this is a better compromise between weight (-7kg), cost, and toughness if you scrape a spoke on a kerb.
03 Ferrari SF90 Stradale
Once Ferraricopped it could flog pricey carbon wheels to willing punters, it made sure to offer them in a juicy go-faster pack for the ballistic SF90 Stradale hybrid. It alladds up to a 30kg weight saving versus the standard SF90. And the cost? A mere £40,000, to you.
06 Koenigsegg Regera
This is Koenigsegg just showing off, really. Most carbon wheels are of a simple design with straight spokes because they’re rather tricky to assemble. The 1,479bhp Regera hybrid doesn’t do conventionalthough, hence its ‘one-speed’ transmission and split tri-spoke carbon wheels.

McLaren SennaMSO Carbon Theme
The not-quite-fully-carbon wheeltheme has filtered to the hypercar scene, via McLaren SpecialOperations’ OTT carbon’d Senna. Another carbon wheelwith spidery metal spokes. Each wheelweighs 7.5kg – a 10 per cent saving – but the carbon pack cost £300k extra.
