What a reception for the reopened Aqueduct Marina

- By Phil Pickin

DESPITE the restrictions imposed by the coronavirus, the refurbishment of the reception area at Aqueduct Marina in Cheshire has been completed.

The result is a smart modern and businesslike area but, while we start to return to something like normal again, the area has also turned out to be one that is ideal for social distancing.

The new layout provides three members of staff space in which to work within glass-walled offices. This design not only gives a feeling of space and plenty of light but also provides somewhere in which to talk privately.

The alterations began at the beginning of the year with a budget of £20,000, the largest part of which was spent on the glass for the new office walls. The price tag for these was around £7000 and the result provides three office spaces, with one being set aside as a meeting space. Although not currently being used in this way it will be brought into use when Covid-19 restrictions are fully lifted.

The lockdown restrictions also impacted on the supply of the office furniture, with some being held up on mainland Europe. The items were manufactured in Italy and were subject to a lockdown long before the UK. The marina team also took the opportunity to update some of the phones and a couple of computers for the new reception area. These will run an upgraded customer record management software.

To complete the area two new LCD screens with digital content, including a series of original photographs by a local photographer, are being installed. With this project now almost complete and having also completed installing new zero contact taps and driers in the toilets, it’s now the turn of the chandlery shop which will have a new layout including a trade counter.
