Easter bunnies on the Cut

-

IT WILL be bunnies, eggs and hot cross buns galore on the Chesterfield Canal this Easter when the Chesterfield Canal Trust will run a host of cruises on three different boats.

Every child will receive an Easter egg; adults will receive a drink and a hot cross bun. All tickets cost £9. Booking is essential, just search for Chesterfield Canal Trust and follow the links.

Madeline and John Varley will be running hourly cruises from Hollingwood Hub (S43 2PF) on Saturday, March 30 and Monday, April 1 from 10.30am. The trust has found twin Easter bunnies, one for each boat, to accompany the happy passengers.

On Sunday, March 31, John Varley will be running hourly cruises from the hub, this time starting at 10am.

Please note that John Varley will be running from Hollingwood Hub, not its usual home of Tapton Lock, because of low water levels at Tapton. This will provide the rare spectacle of two boats operating on the same stretch of canal in Derbyshire.

On Sunday, March 31 and Monday, April 1 there will be cruises on Hugh Henshall from the Lock Keeper pub in Worksop (S80 1TJ) accompanied by yet another Easter bunny from the warren.

Should you fancy a quiet, bunny-free cruise, you could book to have a cruise on Seth Ellis on Sunday, March 31. There will be two-hour cruises at 10.30am and 2pm, priced at £14 or £10 for under 16s, or a 40-minute cruise at 1pm costing £4.50 or £3. These run from the Chequers Inn at Ranby (DN22 8HT).

Again, to book, go to the Chesterfield Canal Trust website at www.chesterfieldcanal-trust.org.uk
