Arenig Fawr & Moel Llfynant
1 SH829392 Exit the car park, going right down the lane. Continue on it to leave it left (after a steeper rise) down a rough track (marked ‘Unsuitable For Motor Vehicles’). Pass through a gate to follow the track, staying ahead at a junction to pass a permissive path right and pass through two gates in quick succession. Follow the track beyond to a wall and makeshift gate by a stile.
2 SH815381 Cut left, keeping the wall right to rise over boggy ground. Soon a faint path develops, crosses a stream and heads uphill, keeping the wall right. Higher up pass through the end of a wall. After a large post follow the path away from the wall, passing a huge solitary boulder. Cut right, rejoining the wall to follow it again. Near a wall junction right cross the wall to continue by a fence. Rise through rough ground between a broken wall and the fence. After a steep section continue by the fence to a corner at SH829373. Cross the fence, continuing beyond on a path following fence posts. After a hollow, pick up the path again going right of a post. Follow the path and posts to Arenig Fawr summit.

Continue southerly along the ridge past the wind shelter. Cut left to a fence at a small col. Go right of the fence, climbing by it over a subsidiary summit. Descend by the fence to cross a small col. Cut left, passing behind rock outcrops. Follow the fence down steeply. When the fence cuts left continue below it. Near marsh grass cut half right away from the fence, descending over a wall. As the path fades beyond go right, descending trackless ground by a wall right. Reach the end of a track right. Go left, following a path to a fence. Go right next to it. Follow the fence to bend left. Keep by the fence, passing a stile and fence junction. Continue to a ladder stile at SH814349. Cross this going right and rising up trackless ground with the fence on the right. Climb steeply by the fence to a fence corner. Go right, following the fence uphill to a point where it cuts sharp right against rocks. Go left over a wall, going right up a path through rocks. Pass through a buttress, continuing above to rejoin the fence. Follow it, soon cutting half left near rocks to the cairn on Moel Llyfnant.

Rejoin the fence, continuing ahead by it to where it joins an old wall and bends left. Cross the fence right, following the wall. Pick up an intermittent path, heading northerly. Descend this, keeping northerly until you see the farmhouse of Amnodd-bwll below in a forest clearing. Follow the path towards this, passing through a wall. Descend through another wall. Descend steep, rough ground to an obvious track. Go right on it to go right of Amnoddbwll through buildings. Follow the track over a bridge. Continue through a gate, continuing into a plantation. Curve right, climbing to pass through a gate. Continue to go left at a track junction to the ruins of Amnodd-wen.
5 SH816374 Pass through these, going half right at a track junction. Rise past a gate and descend to follow the track, which gets very boggy – use higher ground to continue if needed. Continue to cross a stile by a makeshift gate, picking up your outbound route. Follow this through two gates, continuing on it to the lane. Go right to the car park.
