Bamboo is a more environmentally friendly option than many other materials, thanks to the lack of chemicals and natural resources this fast-growing plant needs to thrive. This base layer is made from a mix of bamboo viscose, cotton and elastane, and feels soft and spongy against the skin for excellent comfort. It dries more quickly than merino wool, but not as fast as those layers that feature polyester, polyamide or polypropylene. So overall it is good for general hillwalking as long as you don't need the fastest wicking or drying. It's also naturally antimicrobial so it doesn't get smelly easily, plus it feels slightly warmer, and appears more durable, than merino wool base layers. The fit is neat without feeling restrictive. A good option for more ethical walking.
