RULES TO REMEMBER!
Clean your boots off after every walk. Peat, mud, dung and assorted acidic nasties are your boots’ biggest enemies post-walk. They desiccate, stiffen and crack fabric and leather over time. By simply rinsing your boots of these undesirables after every trip you are prolonging the life of your investment in ways you may not immediately appreciate.
Never force-dry leather boots on a radiator. Leather is skin, and it can be damaged by heat in just the same way. Anything hotter than you can comfortably hold your hand against is too hot for your boots.
Store in a cool, dry place with good ventilation. Any moisture or anything you’ve missed in your cleaning will fester if you leave it in a damp or humid environment. And be wary of leaving them cooped up in a damp boot bag – you don’t want them to be festooned with mould the next time you see them.
