Regatta Toba Low

price; outsole lugs; supportive upper upper less durable; sole stiffness This relatively low-priced shoe has some great features for hillwalkers. It boasts a suede and synthetic upper with a waterproof Isotex lining inside to keep your feet dry. There’s some good support at the heel and some stiffness at the toe box, while the outsole has very aggressive lugs for grip as well as a heel breast. Stiffness in the sole and upper is perhaps not the best, and it’s not the lightest, but it’s not bad either. 4/5

There is no women’s option of this design, but the men’s sizes are 7-12. While the fit is not as close and foot-hugging as others, with contact points where the material touches the foot being more evident than others, it’s a wide and high-volume shoe, so those with chunkier feet may find this fits them better than others. 3/5

It’s not uncomfortable but others are definitely softer in contact areas throughout the shoe. There is a little more movement inside the shoe, and the upper does not flex so neatly with the foot, as in others, which affects ease of wear. In addition, the outsole and upper are softer than stiffer boots, so on rockier ground this is less comfortable, too. 3/5

The outsole grip means this shoe is great for walking across grass, soft paths and mud. Its chunky feel is not suited to delicate scrambling though, and on rockier ground it twists and flexes more than the best models in this test. The toe box isn’t as stiff as the better shoes, and the upper won't be as durable as others. Kept to easier ground, however, it‘s acceptable. 4/5

Although there are a lot at this price, they don‘t offer the benefits that these do – so this option‘s good value for sure. 5/5

A low-priced shoe that offers better performance than many on easier ground, but on more challenging terrain it‘s worth paying more if 3.8/5 you are able to.
