Snowdon: great for so many reasons

It’s the time of year when what many consider the ultimate British mountain comes into season: Wales’ highest, biggest, grandest, most famous peak… er, what’s it called again? But Snowdon really is amazing for so many reasons as it has everything you could possibly expect from a mountain and yet saves a bit back to surprise you still. It’s probably the only mountain that trained Everest mountaineers and yielded some of the most history-making rock climbs on the planet, that also has a puffer train running up it and a summit that has been host to everything from a grand piano played by Bryn Terfel and ice cream-licking sandal wearers, to geared-up mountaineers and hillwalkers having the best day of their life – possibly all at the same time. It’s also a candidate for the ultimate horseshoe, harbours the best (and scariest) walkers’ ridge in Wales bar none, and has more faces than a jury. But with something for everyone and a flippin’ big triangular peak to aim for, nobody will judge you no matter which route you take to the top.
