Navigator II Stretch Zip Off Pant

-

£60 n Men’s 30-42; three leg lengths n Women’s 8-18; two leg lengths n Weight 441g (size 34R) n Material Colourkind Eco (97% polyester, 3% elastane)

The environmentally friendly Bluesign approved fabric features Colourkind colouring that uses less water and chemicals than standard processes. It’s a nice, heavyweight material that feels a little more durable than some, but also dries fast and has two-way stretch. The waistband is stretchy too, with a soft, brushed lining inside, plus belt loops to ensure a good fit. There is a hidden zipped security pocket, plus six pockets that take a map width-wise but not fully length-wise.

Higher-priced trousers have four-way stretch and nylon fabric that is more durable than a polyester, so for hard users paying more would bring potential benefits. Not having an ankle zip is annoying when it comes to removing the lower legs, but hardly a deal-breaker. While the waist is comfy, the fabric is a little rougher on the skin than higher-priced trousers, so they’re not the most comfortable available. Also, while they are fast to dry, nylon is even faster. Overall, it’s not a perfect trouser, but a good option at the price.

Ace for backpacking and hillwalking, with stretch improving comfort, but little details are better in some higher-priced options.
