Ortlieb 59l PD350 Dry Bag £22.50

I got this sack in advance of the GL3D mountain marathon which has strict packing criteria: no more than 59 litres and 13kg. This coincidentally conveniently-sized 59l Ortlieb dry-bag was about to be thrown around and left out in whatever the Lakeland weather with my only dry clothes and sleeping bag in it. I am pleased to report that it is apparently everything-proof. The heavy-duty waterproof fabric withstood a broken

walking pole and doubled for use as a ground mat. The base is reinforced with a loop for carrying and emptying. It even stands up on its own when full. It comes in sizes from 5l up to 109l, so there are options for more or less frugal packing, though 59l was ideal for basic camping with a few luxuries. I predict it coming everywhere with me and intend to treat it carelessly indeed. I think it's up for it. Crashes in high on my top ten bits of kit list.
