Brasher (now Berghaus) Fellmaster GTX £140

I mentioned very briefly in last year's Trail Gear Guide how much I loved these boots, and nothing has changed. These were the first pair of boots I walked in when I joined Trail. I was initially dubious about them I’ll admit, because they’re quite a wide fit and I have narrow feet – so previously I wore Scarpa (still a fan of their boots). The more I wore the Fellmasters, though, the more I fell in love with just how flippin’ comfortable they are.
I’ve worn them on country walks with the dog, but also over most of Snowdonia, over Wainwrights and up a few Munros. Despite being hoofed on such varied terrain and on many different activities, they’re only mildly scuffed, a small bit of the stitching is fraying, and I’ve lost one of the top lace hooks. I don’t think that’s too shabby for the amount of abuse I’ve given them. The support they provide suits me well for most of the year, but I leave them at home during winter months when harder soles and more ankle support is needed.
Long live the Fellmaster!
