Snowdon Horseshoe Wales

-

Among all the numerous route connotations that Snowdon has to offer, there is one route that stands out over all the rest. It traces an intricate course along the skyline crest above the stepped corrie occupied by Glaslyn and Llydaw on Snowdon’s north-eastern flank. This is the Snowdon Horseshoe – a timeless classic circular route that everyone should have on their bucket list.

In one fell swoop, this route takes you across Wales’ bestloved scramble, up its highest mountain and to the edge of Cymru's tallest precipices.

For many, the crux passage and biggest concern of the horseshoe is the crossing of Crib Goch. It does have a tricky reputation, but if you’re sensible and pick calm and dry conditions then the scrambling it offers is a real joy. By completing the route in an anticlockwise direction means you can undertake Crib Goch first and then enjoy the rest of the route safe in the knowledge that the technical bit is under your belt.
