My wonderful partner, Edwin Paul Van Calster turned 55 last December. He likes to celebrate significant birthdays by doing something memorable, usually involving hiking up a mountain! I’m too wimpy (or lazy) to go with him usually, but I always meet him in the pub afterwards! Paul did Scafell Pike at 50, Snowdon at 55 and he hopes to do Ben Nevis at 60. He did finally manage to get me up Helvellyn – and it was magical. I have since done a few more mountain walks (The Old Man of Coniston, Langdales, the Wastwater Screes, Angle Tarn and Wansfell Pike) but Paul is far braver than I am, and there's no chance he’s getting me over Striding Edge. I hope you will print some of the photos of our adventures over the years.
