As a hill-lover, you don’t need us to explain why the mountains are great. But the kids in your life might. An appreciation for all that is tall, rocky and wild will benefit them for their entire lives and the gratification of being the one to present it is deep. We consider it something of a moral duty. Get ’em away from their screens for a day: climb a proper mountain, go nature hunting, camping, avoid electricity, teach them to navigate, have a hillside picnic – it’s all excellent stuff for adults and kids alike. Pen y Fan has easy access, great views and an ice cream van at the bottom. All in all it’s an ideal kid-friendly introduction to the magical outdoors.
