Climb Ben Nevis
There’s no escaping the draw of our highest mountain. And now is the very best time to climb it. The midges are all but gone, there’s no snow remaining to thwart your efforts or conceal the dangers of the north face cliffs, and the kids are back at school. Of the multiple routes to the top, one of the best for hillwalkers in good conditions has to be via the Carn Mor Dearg arête. This narrow rocky spine curves around from the north, looking into The Ben’s intimidatingly dark crags before – having negotiated a little exposed but simple scrambling – lifting to the summit where a rather good view awaits.
