Walk a coast to coast

-

Walking in a circle is very convenient, but a proper journey is one of the most satisfying trips you can undertake – and few in the UK are more intrepid than a coast to coast. Take in some of England’s best scenery on Wainwright’s coast to coast walk from St Bees in the west to Robin Hood’s Bay in the east (or vice versa), roaming across the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors. Don’t underestimate this 192-mile beast, especially if you take the high road – it’s a proper challenge. But accommodation options are numerous and you can end the day with a bath, a pint and a slap-up meal – or go nomad and backpack it. Whichever, it’s a fantastic experience that will cement your hillwalker status.
