All this fluffery aside, the mobile phone has one essential use on the hill. And that is the ability to call for help if you get really stuck. Your phone will connect to any available network when you call 999, but

if no signal is available in mountain areas, or if climatic conditions cause it to fail, you may have to rely on other ways of getting out of trouble!

In an emergency call 999 and ask
