‘ Nature bathing.’ This is a new, old thing, apparently. Nothing to do with taking your clothes off, so don’t panic. It’s to do with the ancient (well, 1980) Japanese art of shinrin- yoku, or ‘nature therapy’, which now everyone is all excited about because it’s been ‘scientifically proven that spending time outdoors in nature improves your health’. Splendid, but hmm. I don’t want to be a bore, but haven’t we, dear Trail reader, known this for years? Honestly, there is no telling some people. Never mind! What treatments have we in the issue for you to immerse yourself in this month? Will it be a wild camp on Souther Fell looking for a ghost army? An 18-mile jaunt around the Lake District’s most sumptuous splendour? A little mountain with a big grin in Northern Scotland? Or simply a route or two around some of the UK’s favourite mountains? There’s your menu, take your pick. Oh, and it’s all free! Simon Ingram, editor ( Twitter @MrSimonIngram)
