This can cause your body to flush out too much sodium and other vital minerals from your bloodstream, and the consequences can be as dangerous as dehydration. So, if you’re on a lengthy strenuous walk, especially on a hot day and only drinking water, make sure you pack some salty snacks (pretzels and peanuts are good) and maybe a sports drink powder to add to your water.
