Outdoor Research Highcamp

+ Integrated liners, very warm, waterproof, fully-featured - Poor dexterity, high price-tag, heavy

Warm, weatherproof and fully-featured, the Outdoor Research Highcamps are the most winter-ready gloves in our list. In fact, they are two pairs for the price of one: lightweight, fleecy liners seamlessly integrate via Velcro tabs with the thickly-insulated nylon shells to create an opulently cosy dual glove.

The removable liners have touchscreen compatible thumbs and forefingers and a grippy silicone palm, while the main shell gloves are very warm thanks to a generous portion of high-loft synthetic insulation known as VerticalX. They also feature Outdoor Research’s own Ventia membrane, providing mid-range waterproofing and breathability. The build is reassuringly sturdy, with strong goat leather over the palm and fingers. You get long wrist leashes for tethering to the wearer, and the ample cuffs can be sealed at both the wrist and hem to lock out the cold, wind and rain. Dexterity isn’t great as they’re so thick and bulky, and you’ll get higher grade waterproofing from more expensive pairs. But for sub-£100 you get a lot of glove for your money with these.

Verdict

A fully-featured, warm and durable glove featuring integrated liners – but they are a tad heavy and bulky.
