Sealskinz Waterproof Cold Weather Glove with Fusion Control
£75
+ Waterproofing, superb dexterity, precise fit
- Not the comfiest, not very warm
Radically different to all the other pairs in this list, these Sealskinz gloves are unique with an eye-catching approach. The tight-fitting, leather design is almost reminiscent of driving gloves. Pros are that they offer the best dexterity on test, with an unrivalled sense of touch and grip, and the entire construction has been engineered to maximise waterproofing. Cons are a lack of warmth due to minimal insulation, and a rather stiff, rough and not-so-comfy interior. Waterproofing is provided via Fusion Control technology. This process sandwiches a waterproof hydrophilic membrane between a merino wool liner and goatskin and soft shell outer, resulting in a ‘100% waterproof fabric with unmatched breathability’. Waterproofing is certainly a strength of these gloves, as is the close-to-skin fit which delivers nimble and precise use of the hand and faultless grip. They aren’t made for very cold conditions, but would suit milder, rainy winter hikes where dexterity is important.

Verdict
A highly waterproof glove offering excellent dexterity – but warmth and comfort aren’t great.
